For the next volume of Pli we welcome...

– Chuck Palahniuk (Asfixia) (via pigtailsandcombatboots) Palahniuk’s point is particularly fun because he makes fantasy ‘material’ here. The objective properties of the object are altered by their framing: fantasy coordinates our desire to the point where we don’t even have to...

That is where we shall start. The lamella is explained quite well by Lacan himself in several of his seminars, so it might be worth tracking those down. Zizek discusses it in many places...

4Chan Puts 11-Year Old Girl in Her Place - This or... →
Quite a good overview of the recent “Leonhardt v. 4Chan” events by Rebecca Kelly that highlights how those who know the ‘materiality’ of the internet can trump the ephemera of vitriol. Of course, Kelly’s analysis does push the blame on Jessica Leonhardt and her father, but does this by citing 4Chan’s actions as de rigueur.

From the Ground to the Other's Desire, and back...
Well, I’ve finished all the person-to-person teaching for the maiden voyage of Contemporary Philosophy and Popular Culture; and wow, it’s been one amazing ride. I don’t think I designed the best course in the world, but CPPC did seem to have a certain conceptual ‘hook’ that made riffing about the Real and the fantasmatic quite easy. The early days on the...

– BBC News - Plants ‘can think and remember’ I wonder what plants’ wisdom is like if that’s the information… Is botanical truth, error, and wisdom even possible? Teaching the definition of ‘information’ to 17-yr old undergrads can infer as much at times....
